Lake: Dogfly Lake

Dates: 7/11 - 7/17/09

Guest Comments: Another great trip. We caught bass, northern, and lake trout. The bass were on the rock reefs, points, and weeds. Small silver/black plugs and leeches worked best. The pike were in the weeds and on the rock points, yellow #5 Mepps, spoons, and deep diving cranks worked best. Many northerns in the 30" class and lost a 40+" at the boat. Lake trout were caught speed trolling deep diving silver/ black, and fire tiger color cranks over 30 - 40 feet of water. Cabin was set up nicely and well supplied. We will return again.

It tells in detail of Galen's daily struggles with life and how he became the man he is today!! Life is good.

Guest Comments: Cabin was good as usual. The new dock section was a nice addition. Our trip was cut a day short due to the ice not being off the lake. We had to break ice to get to the cabin still, but the lake was completely open by the end of the day. Managed to get our limit of trout, but fishing was slower than most years and fish were smaller.

Dates: 2/27 - 3/1/09

Guest Comments: The ride up to the cabin was worth the trip alone. Lake conditions were excellent for travel. The lake trout fishing was tough due to the cold front that moved in. We caught some trout each day, but not great numbers and had to move around to pick up some active fish. Made the trip into the small walleye lake and caught a few small ones, marked a bunch on the flasher, but they weren't to aggressive. We will back to try Pipestone again.

Guest Comments: The conditions were the best we have seen out of the 4 trips to Pipestone so far this year. Fishing was good, but not as fast as earlier trips. Plenty to eat and take home. Had to move more to locate the fish. Most fish were in the 3-7# range. Made the trip to the little walleye lake and got a few for a meal.

Guest Comments: Everyting at the cabin was in good order and worked well. Fishing was slower on Dogfly this trip, but we tried on the Manitou and did well. Had a fox visit us on the last night and stole a couple of trout from our cooler. There was hardly any slush, it all seemed to have healed up from our earlier trip.

Guest Comments: Weather was cold, temps never got above 0 and mornings were -38. Trail was froze good and only a few slush spots off the trail. We seasrched for the lakers, but it was slow. Guest Comments: We enjoyed our anual January lake trout trip to Pipestone Lake. The fishing was great again as usual, our group of 5 ended up landing over 50 lake trout in 3 days of fishing. Day 1 was a bust, had snowmobile trouble and didn't catch any trout. Day 2 we iced over 20 lakers. Day 3 was even better, we iced over 30 lakers. The best fishing was on Schistose Lake and the NW Arm of Pipestone Lake. All lake trout were caught on 4" Venom glow tubes. We will be returning with a crew of new guys in February, can't wait to return.

Lake: Pipestone Lake

Dates: 1/2 - 1/5/09

Guest Comments: Fishing was good our first day. The second day we didn't get much fishing in as we had snowmobile problems. We were busy hauling machines down the lake and were fortunate to meet Lucas on the lake and he gave us a hand. The last day was tougher fishing. Ate fresh lake trout everynight and had a good time, despite the 12" of fresh snow. We will be back the end of January.

Lake: Pipestone Lake / Slender Lake

Dates: 1/2 - 1/5/09

Group Name: Felicetta

Guest Comments: We had a good time. Lucas did a great job getting up and down the lake and put us on the fish when he guided us on the first day of fishing. We didn't catch alot of lakers, but they were all real good sized fish. The cabin at Off Lake was very good, it is one of the nicer cabins we have stayed in on our trips, needed nothing, we wouldn't change a thing.

Lake: Pipestone Lake Guided Trip from Off Lake Cabins

Dates: 1/2/09

Group Name:

Guest Comments: Fishing was good, 2 largest lakers were 30". Others were caught in the 5# range and up. A few chasers, a couple lost at the hole, and few missed strikes as well. Weather was beautiful, no wind and sunny. Ice conditions are not to bad on the trail, slush popping up in spots and is anywhere from 2-6". Best to travel light when venturing far off the main trails to fish. The cold temps and snowmachine traffic will help heal up the slush and make travel much better everywhere.
